We have concluded an inspiring day that brought together key agents from the Basque ecosystem to advance together on the major challenges and opportunities that will shape the future of research in neurosciences and mental health in Euskadi.

The day began with a talk by Maialen Agirre Pinedo, Director of Innovation at the Department of Science, Universities and Innovation of the Basque Government, who highlighted the strategic value of continuing to promote R&D&I in this field. Afterwards, Lorea Mendoza Arteche, Scientific Coordinator at BIOEF, presented the main conclusions of the 2024 Positioning Report on Neurosciences and Mental Health in Euskadi, which will serve as a roadmap for the coming years.

Five Key Work Areas

During the session, working groups explored five strategic areas for advancing neurosciences:

Etiopathogenesis and human biomodels
New therapeutic targets
Multimodal biomarkers and personalized medicine
Epidemiology and prevention
Neurotechnology
