Last Friday, the First Cross-Sector Forum between the financial-investment ecosystem and the health sector took place, an initiative jointly promoted by BasqueFIK and Basque Health Cluster within the Kapital Konekt working group.
The event aimed to strengthen the connection between two strategic ecosystems in the Basque Country, creating a space for dialogue to share knowledge, identify collaboration opportunities and address the specific challenges of investment in the health sector.
Throughout the session, the strong potential of the health sector was highlighted as a key driver of the Basque economy, characterized by innovation, complexity and long development cycles. In this context, participants emphasized the importance of strengthening mutual understanding between the financial ecosystem and the health sector, as well as the need for private investment, anchor investors and support structures to foster innovative projects at all stages.
A key moment of the forum was the roundtable, moderated by Julio Font, CEO of Histocell and Vice President of Basque Health Cluster.

Participants shared insights on biotech and medtech investment, long-term risk management, the role of reference investors, and the importance of capital in scaling innovative companies. Key challenges such as access to finance, ecosystem consolidation and strengthening the Basque entrepreneurial fabric were also addressed.
Basque Health Cluster highlighted the importance of systematizing these encounters to further strengthen the ecosystem and position the Basque Country as a competitive health innovation hub.
This forum marks the first in a series of initiatives aimed at reinforcing the connection between the health sector and the financial-investment ecosystem.
